At the end of July SMCC hosted a poster presentation of the nine interns that were sponsored by the AUBET grant to research at the Arid Lands Agricultural Research Center for 8 weeks this summer. We had a great turnout and all of the interns did an amazing job explaining the research that they had contributed to over the summer. Pictured below is Kendrick Chaney from Desert Vista High School. USDA / HSI Project Director’s Meeting 2012
From Tuesday, May 29th to Sunday, June 3rd we were at the University of Texas Pan American
in Edinburg, TX for this year’s grant meeting. A fun twist this year was that we were required to take two students! Joining Ms. Jennett were Pollette Avila of Carl Hayden High School and Dannialle LeRoy of Mountain Pointe High School. We enjoyed several days of interested research posters, engaging lectures and capped it off with a field trip to the UTPA Coastal Studies Lab on South Padre Island! It was an exciting learning experience and opened up a world of possibilities for our student ambassadors!
